Multiple European champion Nadia Battocletti will open her autumn racing season on the roads over 10km at the Corsa dei Castelli in Trieste on 18 October.
Battocletti eased to victory in last year’s race in 32:52 before improving to 30:08 at the Urban Trail de Lille in early April, just missing the since improved European record by one second.
"The atmosphere was magical, starting from the start under the gaze of Miramare Castle, then parading along the seafront and into the narrow streets lined with shops. I was so cheered on, and it was a great pleasure to see so many of my schoolmates who now study in Trieste.
"I chose to return not only because the course is incredibly fast, but also because I have great respect for the organisational quality of ASD Promorun's events. I invite everyone to participate and run together," said Battocletti as quoted by FIDAL.
Battocletti will also race at the Cross Internacional de Italica in Seville on 8 November and she has confirmed she is targeting her third successive senior title at the SPAR European Cross Country Championships in Belgrade on 13 December.
If Battocletti retains her title, this would be her fourth major title of 2026. She began her season by winning 3000m gold at the World Athletics Indoor Championships before defending her 5000m and 10,000m titles at the European Athletics Championships in Birmingham.
