Newly-crowned world indoor 400m champion Lurdes Gloria Manuel has confirmed she will be competing in front of her home Czech fans at the Golden Spike in Ostrava on 16 June.
The 20-year-old became the youngest ever women’s 400m winner when she struck gold at the Kujawy Pomorze World Athletics Indoor Championships this month (21).
Long considered one of the sport’s most promising young athletes, her indoor success has laid the foundation for an assault on major senior titles in the coming years, starting with this summer’s Birmingham 2026 European Athletics Championships.
Czech stars confirmed
At the World Athletics Continental Tour Gold meeting, Manuel will be joined by a host of other domestic stars including world indoor pole vault bronze medallist Amálie Švábíková, world high jump bronze medallist Jan Štefela, former European indoor shot put champion Tomáš Staněk and European U20 indoor 200m and indoor 400m record holder Tomáš Horák.
