The third edition of the Canarias Athletics Invitational is set to bring world-class athletics to Tenerife on Wednesday (27), with the World Athletics Continental Tour Silver meeting streamed live on the European Athletics YouTube channel from 5:00pm local time (6.00pm CEST.)
Held at the Centro Insular de Atletismo de Tenerife in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the meeting has assembled a strong international cast led by Spanish middle-distance ace, former European 800m champion and recent world indoor 1500m champion Mariano García.
Venezuelan triple jump superstar and world record holder Yulimar Rojas, who headlines the women’s field events is also among the marquee names confirmed for the meeting.
Denny and Kolak headline
The throws and jumps will also feature major international talent including Australian Olympic discus bronze medallist Matt Denny, 2016 of Croatia Olympic javelin champion Sara Kolak and Cuban long jump standouts Juan Miguel Echevarría and Maykel Massó.
Home interest will be bolstered by athletes including 400m international Samuel García and national 400m hurdles champion Jesús David Delgado.
